“She Shoulda Said ‘No’!” (also known as Wild Weed; Marijuana, the Devil’s Weed; The Story of Lila Leeds and Her Exposé of the Marijuana Racket; and The Devil’s Weed) is a 1949 exploitation film that follows in the spirit of morality tales such as the 1936 films Reefer Madness and Marihuana. Directed by Sherman Scott and starring Lila Leeds, it was originally produced to capitalize on the arrest of Leeds and Robert Mitchum on a charge of marijuana conspiracy. The film was issued under many titles; it struggled to find a distributor until film presenter Kroger Babb picked up the rights, reissuing it as The Story of Lila Leeds and Her Exposé of the Marijuana Racket. Its relative success came only after the promotional posters were redone and a story fabricated that the film was being presented in conjunction with the United States Treasury.

Leeds’ character is “Anne Lester”, a young orphan who is trying to pay for her brother’s college education. After meeting Markey, a drug dealer, Anne begins to believe that she must smoke marijuana to fit in with her friends. She then goes to a “tea party”, where she tries the drug for the first time. She is unaffected by the initial experiment, and loses her fear of drugs as she continues to smoke.

Anne’s drug use results in the loss of many of her inhibitions, and the film shows her actions under the influence, including scenes implying sexual promiscuity. As the film progresses, she is fired from her job and begins selling drugs for Markey. Her brother hangs himself when he learns of her new job, and she is arrested and given a tour of the various psychiatric wards and jails that drug users end up in. Finally, after 50 days in jail, she is released, cleaned up and ready to cooperate with the authorities regarding Markey.

According to Friedman, Babb’s presentations of the film made more money than any other film the same theater would showcase over a typical film’s full booking. While actual dollar figures are not available because of the nature of the genre (which was known for poor record keeping and unconventional distribution practices), the general financial success of “She Shoulda Said ‘No’!” prompted producers, in 1951, to import a similar film from Argentina titled The Marihuana Story. That film, about a doctor who goes undercover into the world of drug addicts to learn about his wife’s death only to become addicted to marijuana himself, was not as successful as other exploitation-style efforts as the public was more concerned about drug use by younger people.

“She Shoulda Said ‘No’!” was not well-received critically upon its initial release, with The New York Times saying “[n]ever did vice seem so devoid of enchantment.” Production and distribution of drug films slowed considerably following the film’s run until Frank Sinatra’s The Man with the Golden Arm forced changes to the Production Code, which was a studio-based system which regulated various aspects of objectionable content in films.

tiger barb fish in new tank.? one’s dyeing.!?

ok so i got a 10 gallon tank 2 days ago set it up 2 days ago.i have a filter heather thermometer and air pump. i put a teaspoon of the water conditioner in it and let it sit for a day before i put the fish in there. i went to pets supplies plus and bought 2 kisser fish and 2 tiger barbs. my fish literally been in there for one day. i was watching closely to them and seen the tiger barb fish always try and sneak up on my kisser fish and try and snip at there fins :/ i woke up at 10 today and feed them and went back to sleep. they all were totally fine. i just woke up like a hour ago and seen one of my barbs floating upside down.BUT NOT DEAD. my other tiger barb was like trying to eat it. but eventually it got stuck to the filter thing and i decided to just flush it my kisser fish are just fine. but what could be wrong. do you think i should change half the water.? or what im confused. i thought i was doing everything right.!
the chick at the store told me i could put fish in there while cycling. she said i should change the water every week or so because the levels or w.e she said my fish should be fine so if i keep changing the water should they be good
i took a sample ofmy water to them they said the level’s are perfect i should be right where im at. she said it died because of the fish. but he wasnt dead. he was just floating upside down and i read online that they do that because of digestive problems.? not to sure but then he got stuck to my filter thing n the tank HE WAS STILL AIVE. but i new he was most likely gonna die so i flushed him & it turned out that i coulda brought him back to the store and got another one -_-

1)your tank is to small barbs need to be in groups of 6 and 20 gallons plus pink kissing Gouramis i presume you mean need 75 gallons plus .
2)your tank is starting cycling and that is what is killing your fish you should of researched cycling a fish tank you will have Ammonia in there already and that is probably at High levels .
My advice is take what ever fish are back read up on cycling a Tank and when cycled add fish that actually can fit in 10 gallons .

Edit..Your missing the point you cant keep those fish in 10 gallons and pet shops talk crap and yes you can cycle with fish but you would have to do daily water changes to stop the levels rising to the point they become toxic.
Cycling with fish Stresses them out and even Hardy fish like danios can die in the cycling process.
Also the fish you have been given don’t make good fish for cycling while tiger barbs,Are hardy it will still kill them in that size tank.
Take my advice because unlike the pet shop i actually know what i am talking about .

Everytime I go to the pet store to pick up supplies my 8 year old son dissapears to look at the rodents. He talks about them all the time and has requested to have one for a pet. His birthday is coming up and I thought I would get him one but I’m not sure what. Which one is least likely to escape a cage? I own two cats and am afraid a rodent may escape and get eaten.

mice would bite less but woud be a bit harder to handle, hamters often bite and it HURTS! Mice could get out of a HASTER cage easily but if you buy them a mouse cge they cant get out…. Overall id say mice!
If your mouse ever gets lost you can use a "smart mouse trap" it doesnt hurt them and works really well! i caught my mouse the first day i got the trap in the mail!!!
